Long-tail keywords: find specific searches with a clear job to do

Long-tail keywords are more specific searches that often reveal exactly what the searcher needs. Their value is not that every long query is easy; it is that specificity can make intent easier to understand.

Look for specificity, not word count

A phrase can be long without being commercially or editorially useful. Focus on the problem, audience, modifier or comparison that makes the query meaningfully more specific.

Find long-tail ideas

Explore autocomplete, questions, related terms, forum language, support questions and competitor pages. Keyword tools can speed up the expansion and filtering step.

Validate before targeting

Check whether the SERP treats the query as a distinct destination or simply a variation of a broader topic. If one strong page can satisfy both, combine them.
